Rules for Submission of Abstracts
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Friday 9 January 1998. Note that the Scientific Secretariat will be closed during the Christmas period. Authors have the possibility to submit abstracts in several ways:
- Preferred method: Authors equipped with a browser capable of handling fill-in forms (e.g. Netscape 2 or later) should use the
Web electronic
Abstract Submission Form;
- Authors may submit abstracts by e-mail, annexed to e-mail, or on diskette - for use on a Macintosh or PC (Word only) - No LaTeX will be accepted for abstracts;
- Authors with no means of electronic submission should follow the instructions given below for the preparation of abstract submission. Abstracts received via postal mail will be accepted, but only the title and authors of the paper are guaranteed to appear in the Abstracts Brochure; text will be included only if there is enough spare typing effort.
If your WWW browser does not handle forms, print out the text form (text or pdf) and use it as a guide for the preparation of your abstract to be transmitted by a method specified under point 2 above. Given below are a number of guidelines to help you with the preparation of your abstract.
Size and Layout
- One continuous (unbroken sequence), single-spaced paragraph
- One vertical space before footnotes, if any
- Width of printed area: 12.0 cm (4 3/4 in.)
- Height: variable up to 10.5 cm (4 1/8 in.)
Contents listed in sequence:
- Title of Paper (first letter of each main word capitalized)
- Authors names in capital letters, in alphabetical order and grouped by affiliation
- Affiliations should be abbreviated, with capitalization as in title)
- Text (body of abstract)
- One blank vertical space (if there are footnotes)
- Indicate references to title or authors with "*", "**", etc.
- Indicate footnotes to text with [1], [2] etc.
Important
Authors are reminded that it is their responsibility to properly classify their abstracts according to the classification system. The classification will ensure that the paper is properly placed within the conference programme.
Note that the submitting authors will receive all correspondence from the EPAC organizers relating to the contribution. It is assumed that submitting authors would present the paper for oral presentation if it is so selected. The names of submitting authors/persons who will make oral presentations, will be underlined in the abstracts brochure and conference programme. If a person other than the submitting author would present the paper then this should be mentioned in the appropriate place on the form.
Furthermore, electronic submission over the Web does not allow (at least for the time being) a straightforward system which would allow the use of Greek symbols, superscripts or subscripts. Therefore, authors are encouraged to avoid their use as far as possible, or indicate special requirements in the appropriate place on the form.
