Test Service for Author's PostScript
A new test service will be defined for EPAC'98.
Authors may send postscript files to the FTP server
msip97.msi.se (130.237.217.239) and have them automatically
processed into PDF files. In order to use this facility, authors should place their
postscript file in the testps/in directory on the FTP server. After a
short delay (say 15-20 minutes) the file will be transferred to the
testps/out directory together with a PDF and/or log file bearing the same
name and appropriate extension. Authors may then retrieve the files and inspect the
results.
Some features worth looking at in the resultant file are the following:
- Are the margins correct (bottom 19±:1 mm, left 20±:1 mm) ?
- What fonts have been used (from the File menu in the reader select
Document Information and then Fonts) ? Only the recommended fonts should appear in
the list although embedded subsets of Type 1 fonts are acceptable (these will come
for example, from LaTeX dvips processing with the -Pbkm option).
- Does the file display quickly ? If not, then maybe the graphics are too big
or all fonts have been included in the PostScript file.
- Does the file display correctly ?
In case of problems, authors should contact the
editors
who will try to help. This
assistance will be increasingly difficult to give as the conference approaches and
therefore authors are advised to make early use of this facility.
