To achieve this goal, the oral sessions in parallel during the afternoons have been removed and the poster sessions will follow the oral sessions with a minimum of overlap. To compensate for the reduction in the length of time devoted to oral presentations, the PSC decided to increase the number of days with two parallel oral morning sessions from two to three (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 23, 24 and 25 June).
Twelve half-day oral sessions are thus currently being elaborated by the PSC, who received a significant amount of input from the EPAC'98 Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). The oral sessions will be divided between invited papers and contributed papers. The preliminary programme of invited presentations is steadily being elaborated and will be available with names of speakers in the autumn.
Papers from the whole field of accelerators are solicited, including low- and high-energy machines and accelerators for medical and industrial purposes.
The Programme Sub-Committee (PSC), with the assistance of the Organizing Committee (OC) will decide, on the basis of abstracts, which papers are suitable for oral presentation. The rest of the papers will be presented as posters.
Since no contributions are accepted for publication only, any paper accepted for presentation, which is not presented at the conference, will be excluded from the Proceedings.
Presentation preferences must be announced clearly when submitting Abstracts.
In order to maintain the high standard of EPAC Proceedings and to keep them to a reasonable size, potential authors are reminded that only novel, original work should be submitted. Papers which have been published elsewhere will be rejected. The OC also invites authors of more than one paper to consider whether these contributions could be combined into a single paper, with due reference to other publications or internal notes.
The deadline for the receipt of abstracts was Friday 9 January 1998. Only abstracts for invited papers are now accepted. They must be prepared and classified according to the Rules for the Submission of Abstracts and submitted in electronic form. Authors are required to take particular note that the classification they themselves attribute to their contributions will be used to position the contribution within the programme sessions at the conference. Authors of papers accepted for presentation at the conference will be informed early in March 1998. An Abstracts Brochure will be available electronically through WWW before the conference and in printed form upon registration at the conference. Queries concerning the submission of abstracts should be directed to the Scientific Secretariat, care of the EPAC Executive Secretary.
