Rules for Submission of Abstracts to EPAC 2000

Methods of Submission

Abstracts must reach the EPAC 2000 Scientific Secretariat by the deadline for the submission of abstracts : Friday 7 January 2000. Authors have the possibility to submit abstracts in several ways:

1. Preferred method: Authors equipped with a Web browser capable of handling fill-in forms (e.g. Netscape 3 or later) should use the electronic Abstract Submission Form.

2. Authors may exceptionally submit abstracts by e-mail to the Scientific Secretariat (Christine.Petit-Jean-Genaz@cern.ch), attached to e-mail, or on diskette - for use on a Macintosh or PC (Word only). No LaTeX will be accepted for abstracts.

Guidelines for the Preparation of Abstracts

If your WWW browser does not handle forms, follow the guidelines below for the preparation of your abstract to be transmitted by a method specified under point 2 above.

Size and Layout

  • One continuous (unbroken sequence), single-spaced paragraph
  • One vertical space before footnotes, if any
  • Abstract should not exceed 200 words in length

    Contents listed in sequence:

  • Title of Paper (first letter of each main word capitalized)
  • Authors names also in headed capital letters, grouped by affiliation, with submitting author's name first, followed by subsequent authors in alphabetical order
  • Affiliations should be abbreviated, with capitalization as in title
  • Text (body of abstract)
  • One blank vertical space (if there are footnotes)
  • Indicate references to title or authors with "*", "**", etc.
  • Indicate footnotes to text with [1], [2], etc.

    Important

Authors are reminded that it is their responsibility to properly classify their abstracts using the Session and Classification numbers. The classification will ensure that the paper is properly placed within the conference programme.

Note that the submitting authors will receive all correspondence from the EPAC organizers relating to the contribution. It is assumed that submitting authors would present the paper for oral presentation if it is so selected. The names of submitting authors/persons who will make oral presentations, will be underlined in the abstracts brochure and conference programme. If a person other than the submitting author would present the paper then this should be mentioned.

Furthermore, electronic submission over the Web does not allow (at least for the time being) a simple, straightforward system which would allow the use of Greek symbols, superscripts or subscripts. Therefore, authors are encouraged to avoid their use as far as possible.
