Seventh European Particle Accelerator Conference
(EPAC 2000)

EPAC 2000, 26-30 June 2000, Austria Center Vienna

Chairman's Welcome

September 1999

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the European Physical Society Interdivisional Group on Accelerators, which forms the Organizing Committee of the EPAC conference series, I am pleased to announce the 7th European Particle Accelerator Conference, which will take place at the Austria Center, Vienna, from 26 to 30 June 2000.

Previous conferences took place in Rome, Nice, Berlin, London, Sitges and Stockholm, with approximately 800 delegates participating each time. Lively poster sessions, an important industrial exhibition and a session organized with representatives of industry in mind, complete the overall programme of the conference.

The Scientific Programme Committee is chaired by Jean-Louis Laclare, and the local organization is the responsibility of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, with Meinhard Regler in the chair.

The scientific programme of EPAC 2000 will begin on Monday morning, 26 June 2000 and finish at lunchtime on Friday 30 June 2000. Invited oral presentations will be scheduled in plenary sessions on Monday 26 and Friday morning, 30 June, with invited and contributed oral presentations scheduled in parallel during the mornings of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 27 to 29 June. Oral presentations will also take place during the early part of the afternoons from Monday to Thursday, leaving the latter part of those afternoons free for the poster sessions. A special session for industry about technology transfer is scheduled during the afternoon on Wednesday 28 June in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

This First Announcement and Call for Papers provides delegates with all the necessary information concerning the scientific programme as well as registration, accommodation, social activities and excursions. Good note should be taken of the deadlines for registration and reservation of accommodation. Watch the EPAC 2000 Webpage at

which will be regularly updated to include the latest information available.

I look forward to greeting you at EPAC 2000.

Yours sincerely,

Stephen Myers
Chairman of the EPS-IGA and EPAC 2000 Organizing Committee
